Brooks Hotel & The Jasmine Bar - Dublin
Brooks is a lovely four star hotel located in the fashionable heart of Dublin City, within a few minutes’ walk of Grafton Street, Trinity College and Temple Bar. Boutiques, theatres, department stores, restaurants and of course the famous pubs in Temple Bar are all in the immediate vicinity.
Brooks is a designer boutique hotel, with a strong emphasis on personal service, attention to detail and unhurried timelessness. The hotel prides itself on warmth and charm and the excellent standard of accommodation that ranges from classic to executive rooms and suites. The French oak panelled library is the ideal place to relax with a book, or after a workout in the gym, guests can unwind in the sauna or simply sit back and enjoy a classic movie in the hotel’s private screening room. Brooks also offers a contemporary cafe/lounge with live piano on selected evenings, Francesca’s award winning restaurant, specialising in innovative international cuisine using the best of locally sourced organic and artisan products and of course, Jasmine, one of the "Great Whisky Bars of the World".
Jasmine’s Bar undoubtedly boasts the best whiskey selection of any Dublin hotel - at the last count more than 100 different whiskeys from 9 different countries. Deputy General Manager, Tom Reilly is the main whiskey man here and he certainly keeps himself busy! His whiskey menu is known as the Jasmine Whiskey Library and he has written extensive notes to help guests make their selection. Ever wondered how the name “whiskey” was derived or about the different production styles of whiskey? The answers are all in Jasmine’s Whiskey Library, as well as tasting notes, background origins, method of ageing, maturation styles and unique features for each different whiskey, to enable the beginner or connoisseur to enjoy the spirit in detail. Tom is always looking to add to his whiskey collection, and he is just as much at ease recommending a Mackmyra whisky from Sweden as he is one of Ireland’s better or lesser known brands, or for a complete surprise, he may just pull out some new spirit from St. George, England’s only distillery. Tom isn’t of course the only person you can talk to about whiskey in Brooks – all their staff have enjoyed in-depth whiskey training – and Brooks is the venue of choice for Ireland’s Irish Whiskey Society meetings.
All guests, whether whiskey connoisseurs or not, are encouraged to make the most of Brooks’ unique whiskey bar. Even the guest information directory includes an invitation to visit the bar for a tutorial on whiskey basics, together with a selection of tastings of whiskies of their choice or a Brooks recommendation. The ‘Brooks Times’ delivered to each room daily even includes a ‘Whiskey of the Day’ recommendation!
Brooks prides itself on being a very friendly and relaxed hotel - just have a chat with concierge Conor O'Connell, and you'll know what we mean. With its central, but quiet, location and relaxed contemporary style, Brooks is an obvious accommodation choice for anyone staying in Dublin city. However, even non residents, should call in to Jasmine’s and make the most of the excellent whiskey selection and the relaxed atmosphere in this famous Dublin Whiskey Bar.
