The Celtic Whiskey Shop is undoubtedly Ireland’s best stocked whiskey shop. Located in the centre of Dublin, a stone’s throw from the main shopping area of Grafton Street, it is an Aladin’s Cave for anyone remotely interested in whisky, and particularly Irish whiskey.
Ally Alpine - a Scotsman and the Celtic Whiskey Shop's proud owner - worked in the whisky business back in Scotland and saw the opportunity for creating a unique and specialised whiskey shop in Ireland back in 2003, when he first opened. Today, the Celtic Whiskey Shop is still the only specialised whiskey shop in the country, which seems unbelievable for a country which prides itself on having invented the stuff! Which makes Ally’s shop even more special as this is the place where you will find every type of Irish whiskey imaginable. If it’s Irish and if it's whiskey, then Ally has it and this includes some special bottlings unique to his shop. His range isn’t limited to Irish whiskeys however, and he also boasts the most comprehensive range of Scottish and World whiskies available in Ireland.
If you are looking for a rare, unusual or collectable Irish whiskey, then the Celtic Whiskey Shop is probably where you will find it. Ally’s staff – Darragh, Seamus, Alastair and the two Michaels - are all highly knowledgeable about whiskey, and will only be too delighted to recommend different whiskeys to you. They usuallly have a bottle or two open which you can sample, making your choice that bit easier and more fun! The also have an exclusive selection of miniature bottles of Irish whiskey labelled with different Irish family names and crests.
The shop divides into two halves and although primarily a Whiskey Specialist, the Celtic Whiskey Shop also boasts an ecletic range of wines. The wine selection has been put together with the aim of providing a predominantly non-brand driven range of interesting, value for money wines in a prime city centre location. The shop also sells a range of Champagnes, spirits, liqueurs as well as a small selection of Irish produced gourmet foods and chocolates.
